David Warner Set to Make His ODI Debut In India 1

Australian opener David Warner is widely regarded as one of the best left-handed batsmen of the modern generation and going by his records especially in the past few months; the southpaw has taken his game to a whole new level. Without a doubt, Warner will play a significant role for the visitors in the upcoming limited overs series comprising of 5 ODI’s and 3 T20I’s.

However, one thing which might blow everyone’s mind now is that David Warner is yet to play an ODI in India despite being part of the Australian team for the last 8-9 years. He has already played 96 ODI’s for his nation but is yet to appear in Australia colors in an ODI in India, so when he takes the field in Chennai tomorrow, Warner will be making his ODI debut on Indian soil.

It is rather odd given Warner has been around in the international circuit for a long time now. He made his debut in ODI’s way back in 2009, so it is surprising to know that he is yet to play his first ODI in India. He wasn’t part of Australian squad in the 2011 World and neither he played in the 2013 bilateral series which the Men in Blue eventually won by a 3-2 margin.

Despite not playing ODI cricket in India, Warner is a vastly experienced customer when it comes to the experience of playing in India. The southpaw is the skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and led his franchise to a title triumph in 2016. He has smashed some insane knocks in the IPL so the Indian bowlers must come with different plans.

Meanwhile, Warner has been in tremendous form especially in ODI’s and has smashed nine centuries since January 1, 2016, which is the most by any batsman in the world. He has been a more consistent batsman than ever, and if he can going, he will surely give a headache of two to Kohli. The first of the five-match series will be played tomorrow at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
