Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan, who has been allowed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to take a break from the limited overs series against Australia, is seen spending some quality time with his ailing wife, Ayesha Mukherjee.

Taking to his twitter handle, Dhawan posted a picture with his wife and gave a caption, “Glad to be here with my wife. Will be her strength at this moment of time. Hope the surgery is going to go well in the coming few days.” It wasn’t easy for Dhawan to take a break from such a high intense series but at present, he feels the best is to be with his wife and help her recover quickly.

Dhawan was in an aggressive form in the recently concluded Sri Lankan tour and scored plenty of runs in both Tests and ODI’s. He looked in complete command and treated the Sri Lankan bowlers with disdain. He was in superb form during the ICC Champions Trophy as well so his exclusion will be a jolt to the Indian team.

Though no replacement has been named in place of Dhawan, it is understandable that KL Rahul might be elevated to the opening position yet again or else Ajinkya Rahane might also be tried out. The Indian team will also be missing out the services of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who has been given a break for the 2nd successive ODI series after missing the Lankan series.

Now coming into the series starting tomorrow, it will be in for a fascinating series in the next few days, and besides cricketing action, we can also expect some verbal duels from both the teams. Even during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier in the year, there was a series of controversies which marred the series.
