Ravindra Jadeja Replaces Injured Axar Patel For Australia Series 1

Ravindra Jadeja has been called in the Indian team for the first three ODIs against Australia as a replacement of injured Axar Patel. The left-handed all-rounder suffered a left ankle sprain on Friday during a practice session and did not participate in the practice session after that. The seriousness of the injury was not known, and just a day a day ahead of the game, Axar was officially ruled out with Jadeja coming in.

His inclusion does not come as a surprise as he was in contention to be selected for the series, but the selectors decided to rest him, surprisingly. Jadeja was even surprised with his decision and also raised the matter on social media but later, decided to step back and took down the post.

His comeback has now become a big headache for Virat Kohli as Jadeja is expected to walk in straight into playing XI and only one off Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal will now get a place in the team due to the presence of Jadeja.

India is likely to go in with two pacers, two specialist spinners with Kedar Jadhav acting as an assistant to the two most important slow bowlers.

Ajinkya Rahane is likely to open the innings with Rohit Sharma. Manish Pandey too is expected to retain his place and skipper might have to choose between Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for a place in the team.

The first ODI of the series will be played in Chennai on September 17, Sunday
