Rubel Hossain Ready to Fight for His Place On the South Africa Tour 1

Bangladesh speedster Rubel Hossain is eager to fight for his place in the Bangladesh team as they prepare for the two-match Test series against the mighty Proteas. He wasn’t part of the Test squad that won their first ever Test against Australia, but with bouncy wickets on offer in South Africa, the fast bowler might come into contention for a Test recall.

Rubel is well aware of the fact that he will have to fight hard for his place in the XI as it is occupied by the regular players who have been performing pretty well in the recent past. The Test series begins on 28th September at Potchefstroom and Rubel said that it is always good to have fair competition in the team.

“Fair competition is always very good and appreciated. It impacts on the team’s performance. I think the competition in the team is very good.

“Every pace bowler will seek to perform because they know they have to perform to remain in the team. Such challenge is better for the bowlers. I think every pacer will enjoy such challenge also. If I get chance to bowl, I will try to perform well and give breakthrough to the team. I’m ready to fight for the team. When captain will tell me to bowl I’ll give my 100 percent,” Rubel said.

The fast bowlers cautioned the visitors of not being over-excited with the bouncy and pace friendly conditions in South Africa. He further added that he would strive to set up his skills even further if the conditions in South Africa have favorable conditions for him.

“I’m working on my swing. Mainly we all know that there will be advantages for pace bowlers in South African conditions.

“We have to bowl with much concentration. We, the pace bowlers, became excited to see the grassy wickets. So, we have to pay more attention because maintaining line and length are important on grassy wickets,” Rubel said.

The Bangla Tigers will play a three-day warm-up game against a South African Invitational XI starting at Benoni on Thursday ahead of the opening Test.
