Nathan Coulter–Nile, the man under spotlight in the Chennai ODI, yet against looked at his best in the 2nd ODI at the Eden Gardens, Chennai
It was due to his antics that India saw itself stranded at 57/5 and starting at a potential defeat before things went in exactly the opposite direction Australia expected
Coming into the fresh game on the grassy wicket at Kolkata, a confident looking Coulter-Nile started with two slips straightaway and made an immediate impact with the wicket of Rohit Sharma in the third over of his spell.
Outstanding effort
The right arm fast bowler had a good start to his bowling spell, The assistance from the wicket was visible for him. Both the Indian openers tried playing it safe against Coulter-Nile and Cummins, but Rohit Sharma was unlucky.
In the 6th over, the right-handed batsman hit one away swinging delivery right back at the bowler who grabbed the ball with sound judgement despite fumbling once to give Australia their first breakthrough.
For some time, it seemed that the bowler could not get hold of the ball as It popped up at first. But, Coulter– Nile’s reaction was to the point and grabbed it on the rebound.
Rohit Sharma, no doubt is a big wicket and can blame himself for the downfall due to his lazy approach to the driving attempt. He did not look fully committed and ended up playing the shot half-heartedly. This faulty decision-making resulted in another failure for him and left the stadium silent.
