Manchester United have taken a step further in their attempt to bring Karim Benzema at Old Tarfford from Real Madrid.

According the Manchester Evening News and Samuel Lackhurst, Benzema’s agent Karim Djaziri met with United’s Vice-chairman Ed Woodward at a hotel in London this Wednesday.

Following this meeting, a £40million bid looks imminent for the French striker who is having to share the limelight with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

Benzema is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world at the moment and United need someone like Benzema to score important goals in vital matches.

United are working towards their dominance in the domestic and European football with an estimated £150million transfer budget.

Benzema’s move to United would make sense as the striker wants to play on his own without the shadow of Ronaldo and Bale following him. As per the reports, Rafa Benitez is planning to deploy a 4-2-3-1 system at Real Madrid with Ronaldo playing as the main striker.

Benzema will never take up the role of a substitute striker and United are in perfect position to make a swoop for the striker.
