Here is Sportzwiki’s daily news round-up, featuring top 10 sports news from around the world,on 25th September 2015, Monday. The past weekend saw some major sporting events around the world as cricket, football, WWE and Tennis took over the attentions of all the sports enthusiasts.

India vs Australia 3rd ODI (Indore)

Aaron Finch’s gutsy 124 runs on comeback went in vain as India defeated Australia by five wickets in the third ODI to clinch the series and take an unassailable 3-0 lead. Australia have now lost 11 consecutive One Day Internationals. Hardik Pandya was adjudged the man of the match for his all round performance.

England vs West Indies 3rd ODI (Bristol)

Moeen Ali scored the second fastest century for an English batsman as he smashed a 53 ball 100 and England beat West Indies by 124 runs. Ali scored 102 runs to guide England to 369 runs in 50 overs. For West Indies Chris Gayle scored 94 runs. With this win England lead the series 2-0 with two matches remaining in the series.

India A vs New Zealand A – First unofficial Test (Vijaywada)

India A thrashed New Zealand A by an innings and 31 runs in the the first of the two unofficial Tests between the two teams. Shreyas Iyer a hundred on a pitch where the Kiwi batsmen succumbed to the Indian spin duo of Karn Sharma and Shabaz Nadeem in both the innings.

English Premier League (Week 6)

Manchester clubs maintain top-spot in the league table as United beat Southampton 1-0 and City defeated Crystal Palace 5-0. Meanwhile, Alvaro Morata registered his first hat-trick in the premier league to help Chelsea win 5-0 versus Stoke. Liverpool also had the better of Leicester in a thriller.

La Liga (Week 6)

Barcelona maintain their winning start to the season as they defeated Girona to maintain a seven point lead on their arch rivals Real Madrid, who also managed to get back to winning ways after a shock defeat last week. Athletico Madrid jumped to second spot in the table after winning 2-0 against Sevilla.

Bundesliga (Week 6)

Dortmund maintained their top spot in the Bundesliga table and extended their lead over Bayern Munich by three points. Dortmund scored six goals against Borussia M’gladbach. Bayern Munich were held to a 2-2 draw by Wolfsburg.

Serie A and Ligue 1

Juventus defeated Torino 4-0 where as Napoli managed to win 3-2 against SPAL to stay as the joint leaders of the Italian league. PSG were held to a nil-nil draw by Montpellier as they were missing the services of Neymar. The dispute between Neymar and Cavani over a penalty the prior week seems to have hampered the team combination. PSG are now one point clear of Monaco with 19 points on the table.

WWE No Mercy (Results)

Enzo Amore clinched the cruiserweight title after defeating Neville. Enzo used the referee’s distraction to his advantage and kicked Neville to the groin and pinned him.

Finn Balor also won his match against Bray Wyatt after hitting Wyatt with two dropkicks and coup de grace to clinch the win.

The Miz retained his Intercontinental championship with the help of the Miztourage.

Rollins and Ambrose aslo retained their title as Ambrose pinned Sheamus to win the match for the tag team champions.

Alexa Bliss also retained her title in a fatal five Raw women’s championship as she hit Bayley with a DDT to pin her and win the match.

Brock Lesnar retained his WWE Universal title as he defeated the monster amongst men Brawn Strowman.

Roman Reigns also prevailed over John Cena in a Wrestlemania level match. John Cena hinted that the end might be near for the superstar.

Sunil Gavaskar Reckons This Could Be the Greatest Indian Team Ever

Former Indian opening batsman Sunil Gavaskar, who is usually very critical on the Indian teams performance, has reckoned in the past that comparing teams of different eras is not right.

However, Gavaskar has stated that this Indian side may go down as the greatest ever by the time they finish their careers. He feels that this Indian side has world class batsmen and bowlers.

Laver Cup 2017

Swiss tennis great Roger Federer, ranked No. 2 in the world, defeated Australia’s Nick Kyrgios 4-6, 7-6(6) and “match tie-break” (11-9) to take home the first-ever Laver Cup, named in honour of the legendary Rod Laver.
