The England team posted a record breaking 210 run victory at the Edgbaston on Tuesday. Jos Buttler’s crackling century along with an equally well scored ton by Joe Root helped England with it as New Zealand faltered in the chase. The keeper batsman who has been in great form off late reached his century in 66 balls. His innings comprised of shots all around the ground. He looked at ease scoring wherever he wants and this reminded many, of the South African skipper, AB de Villiers’s style of batting.

Buttler admitted that AB was his role model but was quick to admit that he had a long way to go to match the skill of AB though his innings was compared to him. The century from Buttler gave England their first ODI score of over 400 and also a 210 run record victory. But at a stage in the game, at 202/6 with more than 15 over’s to play, England were in danger of wasting the good start from Root and company but Buttler and Rashid (66) knit a very well organized partnership of 177 and got England to the mammoth score.

The way Buttler scored his runs reminded many of the Protea’s captain AB. But Buttler felt that he had a long way to go to before getting close to AB’s scoring ability. Buttler also added that AB was someone whom he has admired for a long time. He said that AB has changed the style of batting in the past few years and that it is not surprising to see many players trying to emulate him.

The vice captain of the England team went on to say that he wants to play this kind of a role for England for years to come. He said that he wanted to play freely and score consistently for his team. Morgan the skipper of the English team said after the World Cup debacle that they will rise back stronger. This was well proved after the huge victory against the NZ team. This victory has even more significance after the 8 wicket thumping that the England team faced in the World Cup against he same opposition.
