One of the primary debates in Indian cricket is that, will MS Dhoni be a part of the Indian team in the 2019 World Cup? Despite his recent match-winning performances one of India’s finest all-rounder Mohinder Amarnath believes it’s too early to talk about Dhoni being a part of the Indian team in 2019. Just recently, Ravi Shastri cleared the air about Dhoni’s future by saying that the management cannot even think about going into the World Cup without Dhoni.

Mohinder Amarnath, who was a member of the 1983 World Cup winning team, feels that Dhoni must continue playing well if he wants to play in the 2019 World Cup. He said:
“It will all depend on his performance. I never believe in tomorrow. If Dhoni plays well, I wish him all the luck. I hope he will play like this in future too. If he does, then he will be there in the 2019 World Cup.”
Amarnath played 69 Tests picking up 32 wickets and scoring 4,378 runs for India. He was also a great limited overs player; he played 85 ODI’s picking up 46 wickets and scoring 1,924 runs. He is best known for his performance in the 1983 World Cup. He was adjudged the “Man of the Tournament” in the World Cup. His performances in the semi-final and the final won him the “man of the match” award in the both matches.
On India’s current run of form he said:
“The way India are playing, I hope they will beat Australia 5-0. The young team has talent, variations, quality and self-belief. All these qualities are necessary, but it will be a different challenge when they play abroad. Let’s wait and see. I have faith in them.”
When asked about Prithvi Shaw scoring a century in the Duleep Trophy final he said:
“I have not watched him play but I am sure he must be a very talented kid. I hope his dreams come true.”
