India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been added to the Saurashtra Ranji Trophy team for their first contest against Haryana in Lahli.

Surprisingly, Jadeja wasn’t named in the original squad announced by the board, but now, he has been given a place in the Cheteshwar Pujara led side. Jadeja, who was once a permanent member of team India in all the formats, has now lost his spot since the arrival of wrist spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
First, he was dropped from the squad for limited-overs series against Sri Lanka and was then dropped for the Australia series as well. Jadeja was called up as a replacement for injured Axar Patel, but he was dropped again as soon as Patel regained fitness. There are slim chances of selectors recalling him and Ashwin for T20I series, and these two might play Ranji Trophy.

In fact, reports have already suggested that Ashwin will be included in Ranji Trophy side if he is available for the first game of the tournament.
Though Ashwin and Jadeja are being ignored in limited-overs format, they will surely return for the Test series against Sri Lanka as three spinners in the limited overs side are not experience to do everything on their own in the longest format of the game.
Meanwhile, Saurashtra will face Haryana in their opening contest. Jaydev Shah, their regular skipper, will miss the opening game due to his marriage.
