All Rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s consistency and contribution for Bangladesh Cricket has been immense over the years and today, he claimed his 100th Test wicket at home in the ongoing one off Test match against India when he castled Murali Vijay for 150.
After the visitors resumed day 3 at 239-0, Shakib was the first bowler to strike for the hosts in the morning session of day 3. He sent back Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma to the pavilion in quick succession and looked threatening. Later he claimed the wickets of Murali Vijay and Ajinkiya Rahane who was on the brink of scoring his 4th Test century. Shakib produced impressive bowling figures of 4-105 in 24.3 overs with one maiden and an economy of 4.29 and was the pick of the Bangladeshi bowlers.
Shakib has now taken 101 Test wickets at home in 28 matches and with that he is the leading Bangladesh wicket taker. His career best performance came against New Zealand in Chittagong in 2008. He claimed 7 wickets for 36 runs which is by far the best bowling figures by a Bangladeshi bowler. He is also just 5 runs short of scoring 2000 runs in Bangladesh.
Shakib has played 39 Test matches for Bangladesh and has an bowling average of 33.10 with a decent strike rate of 66.21. He has also picked 14 five wicket hauls and 1 ten wicket haul. Being the backbone of Bangladesh cricket over the years, he has been rewarded with no 1 ranking in ICC all-rounder rankings for his excellent consistency.
However, rain played spoil sport again in day 3 of the one off Test match between India and Bangladesh. India Ended their day with 462-6 with shakib being the top wicket taker for Bangladesh grabbing 4 wickets for 105 runs.
