Recently English pacer James Anderson has been honoured by the Queen after becoming England cricket’s leading Test wicket-taker.

Anderson was named an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the annual Queen’s birthday honours list.

“This means an enormous amount to me and my family. I’m very proud of my recent achievements and this just caps it off. These achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of my family, friends and everyone at Burnley, Lancashire and England,” Anderson was quoted as saying in the British on Saturday June 13th.

In April 2015, during the drawn first Test of the West Indies tour in Antigua (Anderson’s 100th match), he had West Indies captain Denesh Ramdin caught at slip for his 384th Test wicket, thus overtaking another Ian Botham record and becoming England’s all-time highest Test match wicket-taker. Despite Anderson’s best efforts, the match ended in a draw. English legend Botham himself congratulated Anderson on achieving this feat.

Anderson also became the the first England bowler to take 400 Test wickets and Test cricket’s 12th overall – in the recently concluded Headingley defeat to New Zealand.

Anderson who debuted back in 2003,has played 102 Tests for England and has taken 403 wickets till now. He also has played 194 ODIs for his country and has scalped 269 wickets.
