If you ask any cricketing pundit to express his views on Wahab Riaz, he would certainly speak highly of him, but he won’t be able to deny the fact that he is among the most inconsistent bowlers the world has seen in the last decade or so. One day he will be all over the ground and will spray the ball around, and in the very next day he will be knocking down stumps with relative ease. Not a good trait for an international cricketer.

Injuries have hampered his career, and the left-arm pacer hasn’t been able to continue his good form for a considerable period. In the ongoing Test match against Sri Lanka in Dubai, Riaz missed his bowling run-up five times in a row which infuriated his coach Mickey Arthur, and he moved into the dressing room.

It was the 111^th over of Sri Lanka’s innings when Riaz was found wanting in his run-up. No one expected it to continue for five occasions on the trot. A picture shared by Pak Passion. Meanwhile, it is a known fact that Arthur is one of the strictest coach around and despite his sour relation with many Pakistan players, PCB decided to extend his contract till the 2019 World Cup especially after Pakistan won the Champions Trophy for the first time. It was an unexpected win as none gave them a chance ahead of the tournament, but it was a fascinating performance by the Men in Green who defeated their arch-rivals India in the final.

Meanwhile, it must be noted that Riaz bowled one of the most significant spells during the 2015 World Cup against Australia. He dismissed Shane Watson of a no ball and then tormented all the Australian batsmen but was unable to get that elusive wicket. Australia eventually went on to win the match and later the Cup as well.
