India are likely to tour Zimbabwe for a short stint from July 10 to 19 for limited overs fixtures. If sources are to be believed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are planning to send a second string team.
After losing the second ODI match against Bangladesh, it was reported that India have cancelled the tour of Zimbabwe due to the unresolved differences between BCCI and Ten sports broadcasters.
India are playing non-stop cricket without any break since the Australian tour which began in November 2014. After having a reasonable successful world cup the Indian Premier league began in days time and it went on for a month and it could have taken a heavy toll on the players.
Then, India went on to tour Bangladesh for a one-off test and a three match ODI series. The one-off test match ended in a draw and the ODI series went in the favor of Bangladesh in which they ended up winning 2-1. MS Dhoni blamed non-stop cricket and player fatigue for their loss, which made the BCCI to reconsider their tour plans for Zimbabwe.
However, the reports suggests that the Zimbabwe tour might get a green signal and India will play three ODIs and two T2OIs against Zimbabwe.
The Indian cricket board are most likely to have a meeting on 29th of June to pick the second string team and most likely the senior players will be rested.
Captain for this team is uncertain. In all likelihood Suresh Raina might be asked to lead the team.
