India’s spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has broken into the top 10 bowler’s rankings for One day Internationals according to the rankings released on Thursday. R Ashwin picked 6 six wickets in three matches against Bangladesh and the leading wicket taker and is the only Indian to feature in the top 10.
The top ranked bowler in One day Internationals Mitchell Starc is at the top of the rankings with 783 points. The second place is held by South African spinner Imran Tahir who has done well as a spinner and will be keen to do well in the upcoming One day International series against Bangladesh.
In the third place it is occupied by Trent Boult with 727 points, followed by Dale Styen at 717 points. In the fifth place is Sunil Narine of West Indies with 709 points.
The sixth place has been occupied by Mitchell Johnson with 693 points; seventh place goes to Saeed Ajmal with 682 points.
The eighth place goes to Shakib-al-Hasan who did a great job in recently concluded One day International series against India. Shakib is at 680 points. In the 9th place, South Africa Morne Morkel is there with 666 and R Ashwin at 654 at 10th place.
The rankings show that ICC One day International bowlers are mixed with 5 pacers and 5 spinners. It is disappointing to see only 1 Indian bowler in the rankings and the bowlers need to perform well. While in the batting rankings 3 Indian batsmen are in the top 10 rankings.
