India has retained their fifth position while Australia has gained one place in the T20 Internationals as per International Cricket Council’s latest ranking.
The three-match series between the two teams ended 1-1 after the third and final game at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad on Friday (October 13) was called off without a ball getting bowled due to a wet outfield.

Australia, who was placed at seventh in the rankings before the series, rose to sixth after gaining one rating point following their win at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati and leapfrogged South Africa.
On the other hand, India could not add any more point to their pre-series tally of 116 rating points despite winning the series-opener at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi against their lower-ranked opponents.
India, nonetheless, had the chance to move up in the rankings in the series. A 3-0 whitewash would have helped them to close the gap to just three points with the top-ranked team while a 2-1 would have helped the Men in Blue to gain two rating points. However, Virat Kohli & Co. squandered a good opportunity to improve their rankings in the shortest format of the game.
India had begun the series on a fine note, thrashing the team from Down Under by nine-wicket (DLS method) in the rain-affected game, but failed to sustain the momentum in the following game. Unable to cope up with Jason Behrendorff’s pace and bounce on a lively wicket, the Men in Blue were all out for a paltry 118 before the visitors chased down the total with utmost ease in the end.
Pakistan follows the ranking list led by New Zealand (125) on 121; reigning world champions West Indies on 120 and England on 119.

Meanwhile, India will have a chance to improve their T20I rankings when they take on top-ranked New Zealand in a three-game series next month at home.
Before the T20I series, both the teams will lock horns in a three-match ODI series, starting October 22.
