As per the latest reports from Sport1, Bayern Munich have almost completed the move for Shakthar Donetsk star forward Douglas Costa. The 24-year old is a key target for Chelsea after the Blues have made an official bid earlier.
Bayern Munich has recently entered the race for the Brazilian and have reportedly made their first big move this summer as they launched a €35 million bid to sign Costa.
Recent reports suggested that Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is in Chile watching Douglas Costa playing for Brazil in Copa America. The 24-year old is expected to sign a four-year deal with the German giants. Earlier Chelsea made a bid of €20 million in January in an attempt to sign Costa but Donetsk asked for €40 million.
A verbal agreement is reached between the two clubs over the transfer claims Sport1. The player is viewed as a long term replacement for Munich’s aged wingers Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben who are currently 32 and 31 respectively and are injury prone.
Douglas Costa has been in fine form foe Shakthar Donetsk as he has helped them to Round-of-16 stage in Champions League last season (their first knockout stage appearence in champions League).
Last week Costa told Sport1: “I have been working for years towards playing at a big club in central Europe and if the opportunity arose, I would be very happy.”
This should considered a big move by Bayern as they are trying to get young talent to replace their aged squad which contains Lahm, Ribery, Robben, Xabi Alonso and Schweinsteiger all over 30.
