Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker has joined Dutch Eridivise side Vitesse Arnhem on loan for the 2015-16 season. Baker becomes third Chelsea player to leave Stamford Bridge after Christian Atsu and Gael Kakuta.
Atsu completed his season-long loan move to Premier League news boys Bournemouth while Kakuta has joined Sevilla on a permanent deal.
Lewis Baker is one of the highly rates academy players for Chelsea and the Blues have decided to send the player to Vitesse to develop his skills. Chelsea have previously sent Josh McEachran, Lucas Piazon and Bertrand Traore to Vitesse.
Chelsea football club released an official statement confirming Baker’s exit from Stamford Bridge. Statement read: “We have agreed terms with Vitesse Arnhem for Lewis Baker to spend the 2015-16 season on loan at the Dutch club.
“It will be the 20-year-old midfielder’s first opportunity to experience top-flight football abroad. He ended last season by helping MK Dons win automatic promotion to the Championship.”
Baker was influential in MK Dons’ promotion to Championship last season. Baker had instant impact during his loan spell with the Dons and the Championship side were keen on keeping the young star on loan at the club.
However, a wage cap did not allow MK Dons to extend Baker’s stay with the club and now the young midfield star is heading to Eridivise side Vitesse on a season long loan.
Baker in vital to his International side as well. Baker is currently England Under-20 captain and is tipped to make his senior International debut in coming years.
