Liverpool has targeted Atalanta defender Davide Zappacosta, according to Italian Media outlet Gazetta Dello Sport.
The 23 years old right back is currently with the Italy under-21 squad in the European Championships in Czech Republic. He also featured for them in the win over England under-21 last week.
Zappacosta is also a transfer target for Serie A sides Torino and Fiorentina.
It is reported that Liverpool has held talks with the Italian’s representatives.
The right back made his name in Peninsula, playing for lower league sides Isola Liri and Serie B side Avellino. He moved to Atalanta on 2011 in co-ownership deal.
He linked up with Atalanta last year, with the Serie A side buying up the other 50 per cent of his rights after an impressive start to the season.
Last season, he appeared for the Serie A side in 29 games.
He already has well over 100 first-team games under his belt and has continued to adapt and improve when moving up to a higher level.

Zappacosta turned 23 earlier this month. He has won 17 caps for the Italy Under-21 side since 2013.
Liverpool has already signed five players this season in the form of James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez and Roberto Firmino. Southampton right back Nathaniel Clyne is also on the verge of signing for the Reds.
Liverpool had faced problems with right back position last season and are looking to add options in the position. Long time servant for them at right back position Glen Johnson has left the club after his contract expired. Loanee from Atletico Madrid Javier Manquillo has also failed to impress last season, hence Liverpool are unlikely to keep him for the second season on loan as agreed with the Spanish club. Jon Flanagan has his share of injury problems and the manager is unlikely to keep faith in him for the whole season.
With Liverpool showing intent early in the summer, fans are very happy with the board and becoming optimistic again for the next season.
