Augusta B Grade's Batsman Smacks 40 Sixes to Break 33 Year Old Record Held by Viv Richards 1

A Batsman of West Augusta, Josh Dunstan made history and left the Central Stirling bowlers scratching their head in disgust as he hammered as many as 40 sixes in a single innings. Port Augusta Cricket Association hosted the match and to make Dunstan’s feat, even more, special; it must be noted that he smashed 307 runs in a 35-over game out of the 354 runs scored by his team. It means he scored a staggering 86.72 % of his team’s runs which is the most by any batsman.

He went past the record held by Caribbean great Vivian Richards. The swashbuckling Windies batsman had earlier achieved the feat 33 years ago. In 1984, Viv scored 189 runs against England out of his team’s total of 272/9 which was 69.48% of his team’s runs.

West Augusta’s B’s scorecard looks weird with five of the batsmen falling for a duck (See 1st image in this article). After Dunstan’s 307, the second highest score of the innings was a mere 18 runs. Dunstan and Ben Rusell put up a 203 runs partnership but out of only five runs were contributed by the latter.
