Manchester City have confirmed the exit of striker Alvaro Negredo to Valencia CF on a permanent deal.

The Spain International spent last season on loan at the Mestalla, after being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Manuel Pellegrini.

And the former Real Madrid striker has now secured a permanent deal to his native Spain, for a fee believed to be in the region of €30 million.

Negredo joined the Citizens from Sevillain the summer of 2013 for an estimated fee of£20 million, and was an instant hit in his first season, netting 23 goals from just 29 starts for the then title winning Manchester side.

His form faded away at the tail end of the season, partly due to injuries before being offloaded to Valencia on loan, where he found the back of the net on seven occasions. Los Che have now taken up the option to sign the hitman on a permanent deal.

It was also being reported that the 29-year-old departed the club last season due to homesickness, but the player himself played down the speculation, saying he could not win his manager’s faith again.

Talking to Daily Mail in May, he said, “I was not homesick. I was very happy in Manchester and on a personal level. It is a different way of life but it is not an excuse.

”I made an effort to learn English, the manager (Manuel Pellegrini) spoke English in the dressing room and I could understand most of it by the end of the season. It is not a reason to say my family wasn’t happy. There are things you miss when you leave your country but the main reason I left is because the manager lost faith in me.

“Around February, I had an injury to my shoulder. I didn’t stop to rest it. I was playing in a huge amount of pain. Kun (Aguero) was injured and Stevan Jovetic had problems, so I felt I had to play. We had huge games against Chelsea and Barcelona. I didn’t play well and the manager started to play Edin Dzeko. I don’t feel I ever regained his trust.”

Along with the departure of Negredo, the Citizens have also confirmed that Matija Nastasic and Scott Sinclair’s loan deals have been made permanent to FC Schalke and Aston Villa respectively.
