The news of selectors leaving out Prithvi Shaw from India U-19 side to make him play Ranji Trophy was a surprising one because he was the captain of the team on team India’s previous series against England and this time, and now he didn’t get select.
Prithvi would have thought that he missed a chance for the national side, but the 17-year-old-player did not miss it, as selectors took the sight of him, as the youngster played an innings of 123 against a strong Tamil Nadu bowling line-up. He was unstoppable on the day and continued to score runs,
“The more consistent I am, the better it will be for me. There are people watching too, like the selectors, and it is important to be consistent. If you score a hundred in one game and then don’t do much in the next three or four matches, then that hundred doesn’t mean anything. I have learnt from many experienced players in the Mumbai team as well as the India A team how to be consistent. That helps a lot to ensure that I don’t get into bad form,” said Shaw.

India A and U19 coach, Rahul Dravid confirmed that Prithvi would be playing the junior World Cup next year, which has left no room for doubts. Prithvi might be back in the team for the upcoming tournament, and this was probably a rotational exercise, which is going on in the Indian team nowadays.
The Mumbaikar has impressed with the bat as well. In the Duleep Trophy final, making his debut in the tournament, Shaw emulated Sachin Tendulkar when he scored a century. He became one of the two batsmen to score a century on Ranji and Duleep Trophy debut.

Even the members of senior selection committee looked impressed by him, and Prithvi could draw a call for himself in time to come.

At the moment, Prithvi is playing for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy and replaced Jay Bista in the side, who was the highest run-scorer in the last game. Before the game, it looked like Akhil Herwadkar would make way for Prithvi but Bista was benched for the experienced player.
