In what could be termed as another bolt from the blue after Pune pitch controversy, an unnamed India player was tested positive for consuming banned substance by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), according to its WADA 2016 report.
However, the name of a cricketer is yet to be revealed by the WADA as the professional is further listed among 153 cricketers who have had been recognised by the national cricket body Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The undisclosed male cricketer came under question when his urine sample revealed ‘Adverse Analytical Findings (AAF)’, according to a report filed by the newswire which further suggested accredited players of BCCI were tested negative.
“We haven’t received any report from the WADA as of now so we are not in a position to reveal the name of the cricketer,” one of the BCCI’s officials was quoted as saying by Press Trust of India (PTI) to reveal the identity of the player.
Pertinently, the cricket body ICC has tested 561 samples in which 317 were termed as ‘Out of Competition’ and 244 ‘In Competition’ as the only sample was highlighted in the positive list following atypical finding in a urine test.
The reports suggested the player whose sample was found positive ‘In Competition’ is expected to have had taken place in the domestic fold which further witness the premium first class competition like Ranji Trophy, Twenty20 professional tournament in the form of IPL followed by knock-out based four-day tournament Duleep Trophy and Irani Trophy.

On the other side, according to PTI report, the tests which were conducted during the non-competition period all 15 results were tested negative after the samples were taken during the ‘Out Of Competition’ (OOC) period by the concerned board.

So much so, the initial inputs suggested it could not be an international player otherwise the world cricket body International Cricket Council (ICC) would have had released a presser.

As per the latest numbers from the WADA’s detailed report, among the 138 players, who were in the BCCI’s catalogue gave out their samples which further saw a single case was tested positive following the completion of doping procedures.

Interestingly, in 2013, the 26-year-old fast bowler Pradeep Sangwan was the then participating in the widely-recognised Indian Premier League (IPL) when he featuring for Shahrukh Khan-owned outfit Kolkata Knight Riders.
However, the latest player eventually became second from India after Rasiwas-born former Under-19 cricketer Sangwan, who so far featured in 54 first class fixtures and subsequently bagged 176 wickets at an impressive average of 20.10.

On the other side, as distinct boards have had shown zero tolerance for such cases, the list of 52 players from PCB and 24 samples from Bangladesh were tested negative.
Earlier, boards have made it clear and compulsory for it respective professional players to consult the team doctor before consuming the medicine.
