Team India skipper Virat Kohli has regained his numero uno position in the Latest ODI Rankings after a brilliant century against New Zealand in the 3rd and the decisive ODI at the Green Park in Kanpur. It took Kohli less than 10 days to again overtake AB de Villiers and move back to the No.1 position. Despite India’s series victory, South Africa remained at the top of the ICC ODI Rankings for teams after inflicting a whitewash on Bangladesh.

Courtesy a brilliant series, Kohli has also reached his highest rating points in his career. His tally of 263 runs in the 3 match series has helped him reach 889 rating points which is the most by an Indian batsman ever. The previous record was held by none other than Sachin Tendulkar whose points tally was 887 in the year 1998. The skipper scored 121 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and followed it up with 113 in the series decider at the Green Park in Kanpur.

Rohit Sharma after missing out in the first couple of matches made a sensational comeback and scored a magnificent 147 to end the series with 174 runs behind his name. It also took him to 799 rating points despite remaining in the 7th position. Pakistan middle order batsman Babar Azam and South Africa opener Quinton de Kock also reached their highest rating points in their careers.
Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis and MS Dhoni also made upward movement in the latest ODI Rankings. Southpaw Tom Latham was in terrific touch during the series which helped him move 15 places to a career-best 23rd. Lanky speedster Jasprit Bumrah who has been a sensational limited overs bowler gained his career-best 3rd position after a match-winning performance in the decider at Kanpur.
It was Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s sensational death bowling which helped India snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
