Left-handed batsman Colin Munro was in swashbuckling form hitting a knock of 75 runs at the top of the innings scoring 18 runs in the first over off Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Applauding the pace bowling duo of India, Munro said Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are currently the best opening bowlers in the sub-continent pitches. Munro showed his class in the series decider when he started hitting the Indian bowlers from the first ball.

However, he couldn’t take his team over the mark, as New Zealand lost the match by seven runs to lose the series 2-1.

Munro while talking to the media of the eve of the first T20I in Delhi said,

“The big challenge for me was just actually finding a good tempo to bat at. I’d like to say that I want to go and blast off in the first ten overs, but it’s not always going to be the case, especially when you are playing against Bhuvi and Bumrah, the two best opening bowlers in these conditions.”

“We have been lucky enough for the last couple of years to be successful. Looking forward to the series and it should be a good one,” the southpaw said when asked about the T20 series which starts on Wednesday in Delhi.

New Zealand is currently the number one team in International Cricket Council’s (ICC) T20 Team ranking list and has 100 percent win record against India. The Men in Blue will like to break the jinx and dethrone the Kiwis from the ranking list by winning the three-match series. Ross Taylor, the veteran batsman, makes a comeback into the T20 squad after a gap of 19 months.

Talking about his batting form, the 30-year-old cricketer said that he is an aggressive player by nature and likes to play his shots.

“I play aggressively, my way sometimes it comes off, and you look good, sometimes it doesn’t, and you don’t look good. Obviously, there is plenty to play for, and we have got a good record against India. Hopefully, we will get off to a good start,” Munro added.

Munro was heard recalling how former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum’s message helped him to change his approach in the last game. The former cricketer advised him to replicate what he does at the top of the order in T20 matches, as he has a good T20 record.
