Lukas Podolski has joined Galatasaray on a £1.8m deal plus add-ons from Arsenal.

The German World Cup winner has signed a three year deal with the Turkish giants.

The Forward wrote an emotional letter to Arsenal fans and hailed them as ‘the best fans in England’.

He also tipped the London club to win the Premier League next season.

It ended the German international’s three-year spell at the Emirates and Podolski paid tribute to his former club on Wednesday.

‘Over the last three years I’ve had the pleasure of working with some amazing people at Arsenal, I want to thank everyone from all the staff behind the scenes to the manager & my team mates, who have all helped make London a second home to me,’ he wrote on a letter published on Twitter.

‘To the fans… The Best fans in England, who have supported myself and the team no matter what, you will forever hold a special place in my heart and I will forever be a Gunner! ‘

‘I am confident that next season the team will be challenging for that league title and I will be watching on as a fan! COYG’.

Podolski later tweeted a video montage of some of the highlights from his time at Arsenal, which included winning the FA Cup in 2014, scoring at White Hart Lane against Tottenham and celebrating on the Emirates pitch with his son.

The former Bayern player had signed for Arsenal in 2012 and never got consistent first team oppertunities.

The 30 year old German was becoming out of favour at Arsenal and spent the second half of previous season on loan at Inter and could not impress there.

Podolski started for the Gunners in 55 matches and appeared from substitute bench in 27 matches. He scored 31 goals and assisted 13 for the North London club.

The forward has 125 International caps to his name scoring 48 goals.

He will be facing a whole new challenge in a whole new league next season after his successful spells in Germany and England.
