La Liga giants Real Madrid have officially roped in Brazilian defender Danilo from Portuguese club FC Porto. The player had his medical today at Madrid and after all the required formalities the club has finally unveiled the player at their home ground Santiago Bernabeu. The player has been given the number 23 jersey, which was previously donned by players like David Beckham, Wesley Sneijder, Mesut Ozil, etc. The Madrid club had released an official statement earlier todat which had confirmed the news.
The statement read: “Today, Thursday 9 July, Real Madrid C. F. will present Danilo as a first team squad player for the next six seasons.
“The event will take place at 1pm CEST in the Santiago Bernabéu’s presidential box. Following on from that, Danilo will take his first steps on the Santiago Bernabéu pitch wearing the Real Madrid jersey and will then answer questions from the media outlets in attendance in the press room.”
Real Madrid most recently confirmed the news on their website: “Danilo is now a Real Madrid player. The defender signed the contract that will keep him at the club for the next six seasons.
The president Florentino Pérez and various members of the Board of Directors welcomed the Whites’ player to his new home. After putting pen to paper Danilo was presented with a replica model of the stadium as well as a jersey with his name and the number 23 printed on the back.”
The 23-year-old footballer who pre-dominantly plays as right-back has previously played for Brazilian side Santos FC and Portuguese giants FC Porto. He had spent 3 seasons at the Portuguese side. Danilo played particularly well in the last season when he appeared for 37 games for the club. He was one of the most important members of the squad. His stellar performance for Porto has intrigued Real Madrid this season and the giants have acquired his services.
