After failing to make an impact with the bat, Hardik Pandya made amends with a stunning catch in the ongoing T20 International against New Zealand as he showed how the standard of fielding in the modern game had reached new levels.
A strong batting show already bolstered India’s hopes of registering its first win over New Zealand in the shortest format of the game and Pandya’s stunner to remove the dangerous Martin Guptill cheaply put the hosts firmly in the driver’s seat at the Feroz Shah Kotla. With the visitors needing more than 10 runs an over right from the word go, they could manage only five in the first over.
And in attempt to accelerate the run-rate in the second over, Guptill lofted Yuzvendra Chahal straight over his head. The ball was looking destined to evade Pandya who was running across from long-off. However, just when the ball was about to land, Pandya made a full-length dive to cling on to a stunner.
