The fans could not have asked for a better evening at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla. The game started on a bad note for the hosts as Virat Kohli lost the toss, but it soon turned into delight when opening batsmen- Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma- lit up the stadium with their stroke play.
The duo shared a record partnership of 158 runs to lay the foundation for a big total before Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni played some big shots to entertain the crowd thoroughly. It was followed by a stunning catch by Hardik Pandya when Indian came out to defend a mammoth 202. And as if all those moments were not enough, the crowd also witnessed some magic from Dhoni behind the stumps.
With the scoreboard reading 95 for six after 15 overs, Tom Latham tried to play a big shot off Yuzvendra Chahal. However, the left-handed batsman, after dancing down the track, completely missed the ball which turned away before Dhoni did what he does best. The former India skipper took his time before teasingly dislodging the bails.
