South Africa beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the first One day International at the Sher E Bangla Stadium, Mirpur just few moments ago. It was a dominating performance by the South African team who played some excellent cricket with bat and ball. South Africa never allowed Bangladesh in the game.

Chasing 161, Hashim Amla and Quinton De Kock began steadily before Hashim Amla was dismissed by Masharfe Mortaza for 14. Faf Du Plessis and Quinton De Kock played sensibly hitting the bad balls away and putting pressure on the Bangladesh bowlers. De Kock was dismissed by Nasir Hossain for 35. Du Plessis and Rilee Rossouw played good cricket taking singles and not allowing the bowlers to settle. Faf Du Plessis completed his fifty and Rilee Rossouw took no risks. South Africa won the match by 8 wickets with 53 balls to spare.

 

South Africa won the toss and elected to field in a rain reduced match which was cut down to 40 overs. Bangladesh got off to a very poor start losing 3 wickets in 3 balls off the bowling of debutant Rabada. Bangladesh was struggling at 17 for 3. Sarkar and Rahim tried to steady the innings but Sarkar lost his wicket to reduce Bangladesh to 40 for 4. Then Rahim and Shakib put up a 43 runs 5th wicket partnership. Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 160 in 36.3 over’s. Rabada picked 6 wickets for 16 runs. The top scorer for Bangladesh was Shakib with 48 runs.

With this win South Africa take 1-0 lead in the series.
