Former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez’s fortune as an international bowler might be in jeopardy after he was reported yet again for a suspect action during the ODI series against Sri Lanka in UAE.
He had undergone a biomechanics test in England and will get to know his fortune in a couple of weeks time whether he can continue to bowl in the international circuit or faces yet another ban.
It has been the 3rd time in his international career that Hafeez has been reported for a suspect action by the on-field umpires to the ICC. He resumed his bowling duties only after a serving a one-year ban when his action got cleared in Brisbane. Hafeez was banned from bowling in international cricket from December 2016 after serving a one year ban. He was banned earlier also in 2014 due to suspect action.
“Hafeez has undergone his latest bowling test at the Loughborough University biomechanics lab under the supervision of experts. He will know the results of the test in two weeks time. Until that time he can’t bowl now,” a board official said.
Hafeez was reported to have told the Pakistan media that he has worked extensively on his bowling action after getting banned for a year in 2015. He was confident of getting cleared in the test to resume his bowling in international cricket again.
“I am confident of clearing this test as it went well and I bowled four overs. I am sure I will be cleared to bowl again in international cricket. I myself want to contribute as an allrounder to the Pakistan team,” Hafeez said.
Hafeez insisted on the fact that since modifying his bowling action after getting cleared in 2016 he hasn’t tried any new deliveries or has made any changes in his action.
