Indian skipper Virat Kohli is undoubtedly one of the greatest modern-day batsmen and is considered as a role model by many young budding cricketers. He boasts of a tremendous record in international cricket and has already smashed 32 ODI centuries in his career so far. He is a very aggressive character and doesn’t shy away from a giving a mouthful to his opponents. He has been involved in several altercations during his career, but that hasn’t affected his game.
Aggression comes naturally to him and gets the best out from him but former legendary wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist, however, feels that the attitude of Kohli is not the ideal path for other players to follow especially if it is against their nature and attitude.

“If I were in his team, I wouldn’t be identical to him on the field. You have got to do whatever comes naturally to you and what you believe in. It doesn’t mean every player who doesn’t act like Virat questions him,” Gilchrist told Hindustan Times.
“If it’s a false bravado, at some stage it will let you down. You will get caught because you will be pretending so much that you’ll forget to play the game of cricket,” Gilchirst said. “Aggression should come from within. Usually your personality says a lot about the way you play your game. Virat is a passionate, energetic and determined person. Clearly, his batting shows that. It reflects even in his leadership and his desire to achieve success,” he further added.

Former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid had also voiced the same opinion a few days ago when he said that Kohli is outrageous at times and his comments before a high voltage series make him cringe. However, despite his views, Gilchrist conceded that there is a huge possibility that Kohli might go on to break every possible batting records.
“I think every batting statistic is in danger across all formats. It’s extraordinary. He is a world-class batsman. Even if he doesn’t break all the batting records, he will certainly get close to all of them,” Gilchrist concluded.
