Turkish side Fenerbahce are targeting Premier League players to build a solid squad ahead of next season. Having already completed the signing Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie and winger Nani, Fenerbahce are targeting Chelsea midfield star John Obi Mikel.

Fenerbahce’s chairman Aziz Yildirim confirmed Van Persie’s capture by revealing the news to Turkish newspapers Fanatik and Hurriyet.

Yildirim said: “We worked very hard, until midnight. We received five faxes, sent six faxes and finally it was finished.”

According to London Evening Standard, the Turkish side have set their sights on the unsettled Chelsea star, who has seen very little game time since the arrival of Nemanja Matic.

Mikel has dropped down to be a sporadic player for the Blues and even Jose Mourinho is willing to let go the star he purchased back in 2006.

Chelsea are expected to sign couple of key midfield re-enforcements next season and Mikel’s role in the side would become even more limited.

Fenerbahce are preparing a strong squad to fight for the Turkish League Championship against the rivals Galatasaray. Fenerbahce have won 19 Turkish League title while Galatasary won their 20th title last season.

Lately, Premier League players have taken a liking for the Turkish league. Van Persie and Nani have joined Fenerbache in last week and Arsenal star Lukas Podolski has joined Galatasaray.

I expect this trend to continue and see Mikel make a switch to the Turkish football next season.
