Under 19 cricketers Prithvi Shaw, Abhishek Sharma, and Himanshu Rana will be leading the three different teams in the upcoming U-19 Challenger Trophy. India U-19 selectors are yet to ink on a captain, as of now, for the junior World Cup but looking a the scenario; Shaw seems to be the front-runner for the post.

The 17-year-old player is already in the limelight with four centuries in five first-class games, and slowly, he is inching towards India cap.

His inclusion in U19 side comes as a surprise as a few days back, BCCI decided to let Shaw play Ranji Trophy and did not include him in the squad for the Asia Cup, but now, they are forcing him to play the junior domestic tournament at the cost of Ranji Trophy.

He is an automatic choice for the next junior World Cup, and his spot could have been given to some another player. In fact, if Shaw slams a ton or two in upcoming Ranji games, then he might force his way into the Indian team for the third Test against Sri Lanka or South Africa tour, but his hopes have been banished with BCCI asking him to play Challenger Trophy.

Among the 39 players named by BCCI, many players have represented India at the junior level earlier. The likes of Himanshu Rana, Abhishek Sharma, Manjot Kalra, Rahul Chahar, Shubham Gill, Kamalesh Nagarkoti went with the team to England while Anuj Rawat and Mayank Rawat are in the squad for the Asia Cup, which will start on November 9.

Siddharth Desai, the Gujarat spinner, has forced his way in team C with his impressive bowing in Ranji Trophy. The 17-year-old pacer has played two Raji games and has scalped 17 wickets in four innings. He won Man of the Match award in both the games he played.

The week-long tournament will be played in Mumbai from November 26 to December 2.
