Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas is leaving the club he served for 25 years.

The Spanish World Cup winner is joining Portuguese side FC Porto and seemingly forced to make the way for young Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea who is set to take the golves off from Saint Iker at Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid’s official Spanish Twitter account has unfollowed Casillas but the English account is still following him.

Although Real Madrid mostly follows their own players and sponsors on Twitter but unfollowing their captain who is one of the most decorated players in football history has brought a lot of criticism from the football followers around the world.

Casillas joined Real Madrid as a child and is one of the most decorated players in the club’s history, winning five La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys and three Champions Leagues.

The 34-year-old has made 725 appearances for Madrid since 1999 but a notable dip in form – first spotted by Jose Mourinho when he dropped his keeper in the 2012-13 season – has made him expendable at the Bernabeu.

Yesterday Casillas broke into tears while bidding a emotional farewell to his boyhood club which made the whole football world emotional.

Now unfollowing the legendary goalkeeper is criticised by the football fans as they believe a legend of the clubs should not be treated in such a way.
