Liverpool and Arsenal will face a major blow as their target Alexandre Lacazette has expressed his desire to stay at his current club Olympique Lyonnais.

The 24 year old French forward has been widely linked with a move away from Stade de Gerland throughout the transfer window and Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool were interested in the clinical finisher.

The French striker was also a rumoured target of Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal and French chmpions PSG.

The Ligue 1 top goal scorer in 2014-15 has expressed his desire to stay with the Les Gones and ignored the interest from English giants from what it seems from his recent comments.

As quoted by Goal, the striker said, I want to show those who think that I have my head elsewhere that I’m still here.

I have already said that I want to continue with Lyon.

I have shown that I’m fully committed. It’s football that interests me, not money. I hope to have a strong season.

Lacazette is a French international with 8 senior team appearances for the Les Bleus and was in sublime form for his club last season with 27 goals in 33 appearances.

He featured in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year for two consecutive seasons in 2013-14 and 2014-15.

He was voted Ligue 1 Player of the Year in 2014-15 season for his impressive performance.
