Premier League giants Arsenal FC are apparently keen on signing Busquets, well not Sergio but a promising 16-year-old midfielder from Barcelona’s La Masia academy Oriol Busquets. According to the Spanish media, the Gunners are keen on roping in the talented young midfielder from the academy and will offer much higher wage than Barcelona’s youth team.
Oriol Busquets, 16 is primarily a defensive midfielder who can easily adapt at centre-midfield or centre-back positions. He is a tall lanky player with privileged physical, technical and leadership qualities and a specialist at scoring long range goals. His superiority at the Infantil A was enough to convince the coaching staff to promote him two levels to the Cadet A next season, skipping Cadet B altogether.
Arsenal for long have recruited several players from the Spanish side’s youth system. The list features names like Cesc Fabregas, Hector Bellerin, etc. Many suggest that the La Liga giants might not allow Arsenal to recruit anymore players.
Arsenal lack quality defensive midfielders. They only have Francis Coquelin who came upto the senior team through their youth system. They are in search of talented player who can enrich their squad for a long period. Busquets is one of the most highly rated midfielders in the country righy now and has also represented Spanish national team at the U17 level.
It will be interesting to see if the Catalan giants allow Arsenal to buy one of their finest youth products. His namesake Sergio Busquets is doing a fine job right now but after his tenure Barcelona might replace him with the other Busquets.
