Netherlands beat Namibia by 4 wickets in the ICC T-20 World Cup qualifier held at Dublin on 21st July. It was a great win by Holland who played some excellent cricket in the match and has qualified for the mega event held in 2016.
Holland, chasing 136 to win, were off to a worst start possible losing Barressi in the first over itself. Then Myburgh and Ben Cooper came to crease, put 45 runs in 5 overs. Myburgh was dismissed for 31. The next man Swart and Cooper created another small partnership 25. Cooper was dismissed when the score was 70. Borren was dismissed in space of 20 runs and another wicket fell of Swart at the score of 102. In the last 3 overs Holland needed 18 off 18 which was reduced to 12 off 15. Holland needed 3 runs off the last over. Holland won the match by 4 wickets with 4 balls to spare.
Earlier, Nambia won the toss and elected to bat. The innings got off to a poor start as they lost 2 wickets at the score of 5 runs. Williams and Schoor put up a useful third wicket stand of 57 runs to steady the innings. They lost 2 more wickets in the space of 7 runs to put Namibia in trouble at 69 for 4. Burger and Schotlz quick fire innings helped Namibia to post a total of 135 for 6 in 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers for Holland were Gungten picking 2 wickets.
Holland is the fourth team to qualify into World Cup T-20 with Scotland, Ireland, Hong Kong. Two more spots are to be filled.
