Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been arguably the most significant batsman of the current era and has already set benchmarks which some of the greatest of all times could not. The astonishingly talented batsman has made it his habit to shatter records, and there is no stopping this man. While he slowly but steadily inches closer to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI centuries, he is also proving a point in the longest format of the game.
On the 5th day of the first Test match between India and Sri Lanka, we saw a valiant leader leading by example. Virat Kohli brought up his 18th Test hundred in a gutsy knock which came at a time when his team needed the most. Sri Lanka took a 122 run lead in the first innings to which India had to respond strongly. After solid starts with openers Shikhar Dhawan and Lokesh Rahul, the Indian batting order fell like a pack of cards. However, Virat Kohli stayed glued to the crease and took up the uphill task on hill shoulders.
Kohli played a knock which was defined by utmost maturity and concentration and provided a backbone to the Indian 2nd innings. The Delhi-born star smash 12 boundaries and two maximums in the process which helped him to a score of 104 not out of just 119 deliveries. India finally declared their innings at 352/8 with a lead of 230 runs.

#ViratKohli is overrated. SL bowling sucks. Let him go to Eng. He fails under pressure. It was easy on Day 5 morning.
Any new excuse?

We have seen one of the best test century from Virat Kohli. He batted really wel. The way he played after the two wickets of Ashwin & Saha was incridible, brings back India in commanding position. Now match is onn #INDvSL #EdenGarden.

Top drawer century from @imVkohli. Held the side together when there was danger and just so easily changed style and attacked.
