Anirban Lahiri

Bengaluru boy Anirban Lahiri made India proud by clinching fifth position in the European Masters held at the Crans Sur Sierre Golf Club in the Swiss Alps yesterday. He now goes to US to compete in WCG Bridgestone Invitational beginning 6 August 2015. This will be the year’s last Major tournament. He was six strokes behind the winner Danny Willett of England a credible achievement. With this achievement Lahiri can move him inside Top fifty in the Official World Golf Ranking to be announced today; no mean achievement! Lahiri’s four days total read 12 under 268 as against 17 under 263 of the winner.

Year 2015 has been full of ups and downs for Anirban. He began the season with a bang by winning two European titles within in three weeks in February 2015. There after he was unable to register a decent finish before this event. He struggled in his first US outing missing the half way cut twice from six starts and finished tied at 49thposition despite good opening. In next six events he missed weekend rounds on three occasions. He finished joint 30th at the British Open just last week. The year’s lesson for him would be to be more consistent in his performance.

Among the other Indians who participated in this tournament SSP Chowrasia finished joint 24th with Shiv Kapur (67) at five under 275. Jyoti Randhwa (71) was tied at joint 37th with three under 277 and Rashi Khan was tied at 68th position

Indian Golf lovers will keen look forwards to this weekend Golf tournament in USA. Wish Anirban good luck and hope for some consistent performance.
