After bowling just two overs in the first-drawn Test against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens Kolkata, the premium spinner Ravindra Jadeja committed a rare blunder when he bowled a no-ball at the stroke of lunch at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

Interestingly, after gloveman, Wriddhiman Saha appealed for a stumping opportunity, before the on-field umpire went for upstairs help – to find the television replayed suggested the left-arm orthodox bowler Jadeja has overstepped.

Moreover, even though Jadeja dragged his foot back, but that was not enough to get him a wicket as Karunaratne got a much-needed reprieve.

However, Saha was very confident in removing the bails from the groove when Sri Lankan opener Dimuth Karunaratne was well short of his crease after lunging forward, in a bid to rotate the strike.

As the ball drifted away from Karunaratne, who was beaten owing to his defensive approach while dragging his foot outside the crease which saw Saha whip off the bails in no time.

The incident happened in the 26th over of Sri Lankan innings when Jadeja sent down his final bowl of his very first over of the match.

The prominent bowler Jadeja was soon among a wickets column when he trapped Angelo Mathews in front of the stumps.

Soon after the lunch break, Mathews perished on Jadeja’s arm-ball and accuracy when the former was struck on his knee-roll which saw him going for a review straight away.

The television replay suggested the ball clipped the leg stump to see Lankan losing its third wicket of the day, as Mathews had a long walk back towards the stadium when he scored ten off 20 balls.

As the Nagpur surface has been traditionally assisting spinners, the spin-duo of Virat Kohli-led India have had claimed two wickets so far.

While filing this report, the Islanders were 94 for three in 44 overs with lucky Karunaratne batting on 43 off 126 deliveries alongside skipper Dinesh Chandimal 20 off 46 balls.

After Sri Lanka opted to bat first, Jadeja so far, bowled 11 overs which saw him conceding 22 runs.
