If Darren Sammy’s decision to visit Pakistan to play the Pakistan Super League final and the T20 series against Sarfraz Ahmed & Co. while playing for World XI earlier this year without bother about the security was not enough to win the Pakistani hearts, then his latest tweet for Kamran Akmal is bound to serve that purpose.
Sammy took to Twitter to congratulate his Peshawar Zalmi teammate Kamran Akmal with a hilarious message in Urdu after the latter was involved in a record-breaking partnership during a T20 game in Pakistan’s National T20 Cup.
Playing for Lahore Whites, Akmal along with former Pakistan captain Salman Butt shared the highest-ever stand in T20s as they stitched together an unbeaten partnership of 209 against Islamabad, thus bettering bettering the previous record stand of 207 set by Kent’s openers Joe Denly and Daniel Bell-Drummond against Essex at Chelmsford in the Natwest T20 Blast earlier this year in August.
Akmal scored the lions share of runs during the stand, slamming 150 off just 71 balls with the help 14 fours and 12 sixes. On the other end, Butt looked more than happy to play the role of a second fiddle as he scores 55 runs from 49 balls with eight boundaries.

Congratulatory messages poured in from all corners and Sammy also joined the bandwagon. The two-time World T20-winning skipper, however, stole the show with his message as he wrote: “Shaba Shab Kami Boy .Aise he akhelty raho .PSL main bhe aisay he khelna ha ??? (Well done Kami Boy. Keep on playing like this. You need to play like this in PSL too)”

Sammy has carved his place in the Pakistani fans heart. Earlier this year, after leading Peshawar Zalmi to the title, he had said he enjoyed the experience in Pakistan.

“I have enjoyed playing a cricket match [in Lahore] and I have even enjoyed being with the security guys as I have never seen something like this before so it was a good experience. It is hopefully a step in the right direction, where things could happen. What I can say is that being here felt like playing in St Lucia, playing in India or anywhere else in the world. And like I said at the toss, today I felt cricket was the winner,” he had said after the match.
