Rawalpindi Express? Yes, Shoaib Akthar.
Mysore Express? Our very own Javagal Srinath !
Sehore Express? Sorry, what?
This is how most of the Indians would react to, all thanks to the selectors. But it is none other than an Indian fast bowler, named Munish Ansari.

Munish was born in Sehore, Indore and has represented his state team Madhya Pradesh in his cricketing career. To his credit, he manages to bowl consistently at a speed of 145kmph and this has won him many wickets, including the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Andrew Flintoff in the nets. But what got him his name ‘Sehore Express’ is the incident with Harbhajan Singh.
During the finals of a bowling contest, Munish had to bowl to Harbhajan. With the first delivery, he had Bhajji bowled; With the second, he broke Harbhajan’s bat in two halves and when he delivered the third one, Harbhajan in an attempt to hit that, lost the grip of the bat and it fell some yards away. This miraculous act and many more domestic spells earned him the praises of Rahul Dravid, Ajay Jadeja and a nickname ‘Sehore Express’ as well.
According to Yusuf, Munish’ brother, “Discrimination was the main reason he was not given the chance in the domestic team. Despite being one of the few pace bowlers around, he wasn’t considered in the Division team as well and that forced him to leave the country six years back.” The pacer recently picked up 3 wickets for just 23 runs in order to contribute prominently in Oman’s victory over Namibia that sealed their spot in the T20 World Cup 2016.
Now Milind Kanmandikar, secretary of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, when asked about Munish said he is not aware of a player with such a name who has played for MP ever. While India has always been a cricketing country seeking good pacers, it will not be overly said if we say we lost a good talent due to the negligence of the selectors concerned.
