The reason behind Indian skipper and Indian team management laying extra attention on fitness standards was clear on the field when Virat Kohli cleared the ropes quite easily, which also left him surprised with the ball jumping past the boundary line.

It was the fifth delivery of the 166th over of team India’s innings when skipper Virat Kohli was batting on a score of 188.

Delivery from Dilruwan Perera was pitched outside the off stump, and Kohli took it from there, towards the cow corner. There was not much power involved in the shot, and it seemed to be a casual hit for a single, which mistakenly went in the air.

The ball cleared the distance and went past the boundary line which saw Kohli jumping from a score of 188 to 194; six runs less than his yet another double century.

Kohi was left surprised with the result which came out from the shot, and the fitness level of the player was visible in it. Despite the fact that not much power was involved in it, the shot produced six runs for him.

Meanwhile, team India is closing on this game as the home side needs just nine wickets to win the game with two days remaining. Sri Lanka are still 384 runs behind, and they even don’t have an outright chance of forcing a draw or thinking to win the game.

A brilliant spell from Indian bowlers in clusters tomorrow might see them bundling out Sri Lanka even before the end of the day’s play on day four. However, they need to emulate their form of the first innings where India bundled out Sri Lanka with just a score of 205 on day one itself in 79.1 overs.
