With Dale Steyn enters the elite club of 400, floods of astonishing facts starts coming out in public domain. He is the ninth fast bowlers to enter the 400 club.
One of the superb facts about this bowler is strike rate. So far he bowls 16685 and took wicket in every 41 balls. The best among the 400 club members, and best among the bowlers who played at least 50 Test as a bowler.
Tamim Iqbal, the Bangladesh opener was caught at the slip cordon by South Africa captain Hasim Amla off the ball of Dale Steyn, and eventually becomes Steyn’s 400th victim.
But, in general, Steyn is not the first bowler who have best strike rate. Before him only one bowler has bowled with better strike rate is Shane Bond in the 21 century; and before Bond, two 19th century bowlers bowled minimum 2000 balls with superior strike rate.
Point be noted, Dale Steyn is the only bowler who played 80 matches, among the top five bowlers who have better strike rate.
None of the top three have played even 30 matches. But, in a short span of time they won the heart of cricket fans across the world. They left cricket breaking the heart of fans. When fans were looking for beautiful spells from them, injury forced them to think about the early retirement.
Among the TOP 10 bowlers whose sojourn in cricket was whacking, Waqar Younis is one of the bowlers who played 87 Tests and make people love his bowling.
Leave aside two bowlers- Dale Steyn and Waqar Younis- the remaining eight had to leave the game they loved most due to injury among others.
