India skipper Virat Kohli can return for the T20I series against Sri Lanka, as per recent reports.

He has been given rest by the selectors for the ODI series against the Islanders, but the selectors did not announce the squad for the T20I series. It has come to notice that he can make a comeback to the T20I team.

Kohli got retained in the squad for the third Test, which will be played in Delhi. It was learnt he might be given rest for third Test and full limited-overs series. However, as of now, he is only rested for the ODI series and a confirmed news regarding his availability for the T20I series will be out in public when the selectors announce the squad for the T20I series and the Test series against South Africa.

In the upcoming ODI series though, Rohit Sharma will make his captaincy debut at international level. He was appointed as the vice-captain of India limited-overs side before the series against Sri Lanka, during India’s tour of the country a few months back and within a few months, Rohit will lead the Indian team.

There are a few changes on the ODI side, as Punjab pacer Siddarth Kaul has replaced Mumbai pacer Shardul Thakur, who played two ODIs in Sri Lanka and got benched then. Shreyas Iyer has also received ODI call-up.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel have also returned to the ODI side, and the duo of R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja got dropped. KL Rahul too didn’t find a place in the ODI squad. Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik are the other additions.

For the third Test though, there is no change in the side and Shikhar Dhawan, who got released for the second Test, has returned. He will either replace KL Rahul or Murali Vijay to open the innings at his home ground.
