Though there are a plethora of exciting talents in the current generation, we are living in the era of the ‘Fab Four’. By the word ‘Fav Four’ we are obviously referring to Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root, who are the captains of their respective countries – India, Australia, New Zealand and England. If we dig deep and narrow down the competition, the biggest battle at the moment lies between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith.

While Virat Kohli is the undisputed king of the limited overs format, Steven Smith has just edged past the Indian skipper in the longest format of the game. Both these players were in action today as India have engaged themselves against Asian rivals Sri Lanka while the Australians are on a mission to bring back the Ashes urn from England.

It was a significant day for both Kohli and Smith as both these gentlemen reached the 3000 Test runs as the skippers of their respective sides. The statistics were nail-biting as expected with Steve Smith proving out to be a tad bit better than Virat Kohli. While Smith reached the milestone in his 49th innings, Kohli took just a solitary inning more to reach the line. However, both have them have slammed 13 centuries as skippers in the longest format of the game.

Steve Smith was brilliant int he first Tests against England at Brisbane where he played a matured and unbeaten knock of 141 runs helping his team to take the lead in the series. He reached the 3000 run mark with his 40 run stint today at Adelaide. Virat Kohli continued his surreal form with the bat as he blasted yet another 150 run knock against Sri Lanka. Kohli crushed the Sri Lankans with his double ton in the previous Test which marked the 5th of his career.
