It was an unpleasant sight at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi today when several Sri Lankan players struggled in the polluted air of Delhi. As per reports, four players vomited, and a couple of others found it pretty uneasy to breathe in the polluted air. In the recent past Delhi has been criticised of smog and even a Ranji Trophy encounter last year was abandoned due to the intense smog circling the capital city of the country.

It was an unfortunate site to witness which will hamper the reputation of this ground. A few years an ODI in Delhi between India and Sri Lanka was called off citing an underprepared pitch where several Sri Lankan players were injured and bruised. The Sri Lankan players wore a mask following the post-lunch session, and several players kept going off the field.

There was a situation that the team fielding coach and another support staff was ready in whites to field as substitute fielders if they were required but Indian skipper Virat Kohli was not happy with the fact that the visitors were wasting so much time and hence decided to declare the innings with India comfortably placed on 536/7.

King Kohli continued his rich vein of form and went on to smash his 6th Test double ton, the joint-most by an Indian batsman along with Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. Meanwhile out of favour Indian opener Gautam Gambhir who is known to voice his opinion criticised the government and their leaders of debating regarding film releases whereas the safety issue of players in the capital city is not taken care of.
