Gujarat born batsman Parthiv Patel made his debut for the Indian cricket team in the year of 2002 against England at Trent Bridge under the leadership of the legendary Sourav Ganguly. A childish, innocent face, 5 feet 4 inches tall is what the left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman accounts for when it comes to his looks, but that is not the story when cricket is concerned.

Parthiv Patel terms his national team return as 'god's grace 1With the heart of a lion, Parthiv Patel has an aggressive approach to his batting but can be responsible enough when required. The now 32-year-old was a regular member of Ganguly’s side since making his debut, but his career was cut short with the introduction of an icon named Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dhoni’s batting prowess obviously sidelined the importance of Patel in the team, and his career took a major blow.

The batsman has however made several returns to the Indian side but has been ignored the very next moment. Parthiv Patel went on to make a mark in the Indian Premier League playing for Mumbai Indians which gave him the opportunity to showcase his destructive side.

His fairy tale career was blessed with another ray of hope when the national selectors announced the Indian squad for the upcoming series against South Africa. It was a delightful moment for the cricketer who has been scripting his way back to the team since long adapting to the gruelling domestic format.

The cricketer took to Twitter to announce his happiness. Patel mentioned in his tweet that he got the news of being selected in for the South Africa tour when he landed in Jaipur to feature as a part of his Ranji team. He labelled the call-up as a gift from god and will look to make it big against the Proteas.

His tweet read “Came to know about selection only when I landed in Jaipur for the Ranji Trophy quarter final..thank you very much for the wishes.#god’sgrace”
