South Africa A, came into the match with just 11 members as the remaining members of the team were down with some illness. While fielding, the Proteas had their video analyst in the field for Khaya Zondo, who left the field because of injury. Soon after, onemore South African left the field and the Proteas were down to 10 men. It was when, India A’s 12th man Mandeep Singh came into the field wearing a South African jersey and fielded for them. Here is the footage

Seven South Africa ‘A’ players had to leave the field after being hit by a stomach bug and dehydration during their game against India ‘A’. Eight members of the contingent, including manager Valvo had to be admitted to a city hospital later in the evening.

The South African team management refused to divulge the names of the players, but sources said that Quinton de Kock, Wayne Parnell, Omphile Ramela, Theunis de Bruyn, Mthokozisi Shezi, Risa Hendriks and Khaya Zondo were the ones to be admitted.

Six of them were down with food poisoning, while Quinton de Kock was dehydrated. Quinton had arrived only on Sunday morning and batted for over three hours which sapped all his energies. It’s not clear what led to the sudden bout of illness. On Friday night, the South Africa ‘A’ players had a team dinner and quite a few of them were spotted at the team hotel lobby pretty late. Most of them, though, were at practice on Saturday and even enjoyed themselves by the pool in the afternoon. A few of them even went to a city mall in the evening. They might have eaten something that didn’t go down well,” a sorce close to South Africa A team said.
